Phil Cook
Phil Cook is an award-winning science educator and communicator based in Indiana, bringing over 24 years of experience in public and private secondary education. Currently a Senior Science Instructor at Culver Academies, he has taught AP Chemistry, Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering, and has led initiatives to implement inquiry-based, competency-driven instruction across STEM disciplines. In addition to his classroom work, Phil’s work as a science communicator, @chemteacherphil, is widely known on social media, including on TikTok, where his engaging, curiosity-driven science videos have garnered over six million followers and hundreds of millions of views. He has also integrated STEAM concepts through cross-divisional projects and the design of makerspace curriculum. Recognized as a 2013 Indiana finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, Phil has also been honored with the Kaiser Scholar Award and the Ralph Dittman Chair of Science. He will also serve as a 2025 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow, contributing his expertise to STEM education policy at the national level through curriculum development, grant reviews, and teacher mentorship. He partners with brands and organizations to promote science literacy, always emphasizing sustainability, real-world applications, and the joy of discovery.
